About 10 members of the crew of the American destroyer "Fitzgerald" will be punished

About a dozen members of the crew of the US destroyer Fitzgerald will be punished for the collision of a warship with the Philippine dry cargo ship ACX Crystal, which took place off the coast of Japan on June 17, 2017, the command of the US Navy said.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the US Navy Admiral Bill Moran told reporters that the commander of the ship, the senior assistant commander and the master-chef, would be recalled from the destroyer Fitzgerald, because the command had lost confidence in them and "confidence that they are capable of command."
As a result of the collision, 7 crew members of the destroyer Fitzgerald were killed.
The Fitzgerald rocket destroyer was included in the US Navy in 1994. Originally it was based in San Diego, California, now in the Japanese port of Yokosuka.
